Prime Time Club
An exercise class aimed at those individuals who find regular exercise difficult through mobility problems associated with older age groups.
As an individual ages it does not necessarily mean that exercise is no longer viable or enjoyable. In fact many studies have shown that the longer an individual remains fit and moving ‘the better’ they age. By keeping fit through “middle-age” and further into “old-age” the incidence of life threatening occurrences are lessened.
The heart is a muscle and therefore needs to be exercised to be kept fit. Normal daily routines are not sufficient to properly exercise the heart. It is necessary to regularly elevate the heart rate to obtain the best results. Participants are encourage to move arms and legs while being seated, in a series of moves that take all the major joints through as full a range of motion as is possible for each individual helping to keep the joints supple and mobile. Various “toys” are used to keep the classes interesting and varied.
Studies have proven that keeping the brain active and using both sides of the brain at the same time are beneficial and can help to delay dementia or other related illnesses. Simple, fun exercises...
Prime Time Club sessions include simple, fun exercises like playing throw and catch – yes the balls may be slightly larger than usual to help with those with visual impairments and to make catching a bit easier for those with less than mobile hands but the outcome is the same. Both sides of the brain are activated, hand and eye coordination, adding varying elements like passing the ball around the body before throwing to the next person keeps the stimulation. Why come to Prime Time Club?
Prime Time Club offers more than just exercise though. Each Prime Time Session is followed by a cup of tea or coffee and a chat. Social interaction is a very valid part of this class, keeping the brain and recall active. What is the difference between Prime Time Gold and Prime Time Active?
Prime Time Gold are seated exercise classes. Prime Time Active are walking aerobics including “functional fitness moves”. Are you 60-90+ and want to improve your mobility? Prime Time Club is exercise for the young at heart... bringing fun, fitness and friendship to your week. Classes are 45 mins of gentle exercise followed by a drink and a chat.
