Move it or lose it classes
|
Scientifically proven exercises that improve muscle strength, promoting balance and reducing your risk of falls.
All Move It Or Lose It class exercises can be carried out seated or standing. Many of the moves are ‘functional fitness’. For example, moves that represent daily living activities like knee raises can help with climbing stairs.
Sessions include:
The Move It Or Lose It classes have changed the way I teach, and have altered my appreciation of the Senior generation, making me a much more rounded teacher. The ladies and gentlemen who come to the Move It Or Lose It classes are such genuine people. They come to take part in the exercises, they are genuinely interested to know why the moves are done, how the moves will impact on their daily lives.
The best part is when they come and tell me the little things they have achieved during the week for example, after doing sit-to-stand in class being able to get up off the sofa without using sticks; being able to reach up to a higher shelf because shoulder mobility had improved. Love Life and Laughter!
The laughter, joke telling and sing-a-longs are all part and parcel of a Move It Or Lose It classes, exercising is almost secondary!
A Tale of Two Marys: A Special Birthday Surprise!
There was a double reason to celebrate at the Move It Or Lose It class in Deeping St James recently! BBC Radio 2’s Scott Mills declared 24th March as "Mary Berry Day" in honour of the beloved TV baker’s 90th birthday. But in our Deeping St James group, we had our very own Mary Berry lookalike – Jennie (seated, centre, blue V neck cardigan) – who was also celebrating a special birthday! When Jennie first joined the class, many of the members (and me!) couldn’t help but notice her striking resemblance to the legendary Mary Berry. So, when her birthday fell on the same day as Mary’s, there was only one thing to do – sing a heartfelt Happy Birthday to our very own star! Jennie, marked her 85th birthday surrounded by friends, laughter, and movement. A wonderful reminder that staying active and connected brings joy at any age. Happy Birthday, Jennie! 🎉 AKA Mary |
