After the longest winter spring is finally here and hopefully the changing season is bringing some positive news for our Move It Or Lose It classes! With the Government announcing a Road Map to the lifting of restrictions comes the long awaited news for the possible reopening of our exercise classes on 17th May.
Amanda can’t wait to welcome you all back to class and to help keep you all busy and active in the meantime she has sent out some special sunflower seeds for you to plant and nurture over the next two months. This special variety of sunflower are called ‘Sunspot’ and after planting they take 60 days to flower, just in time for classes to restart! So as a little MIOLO challenge, Amanda would like everyone to plant their seeds and share pictures of their progress and as the flowers grow the number of days left to class goes down! Health Benefits of Gardening Being out in the fresh air has many positive health benefits, especially for our emotional well-being. The past year has had many negative effects on our health but a recent report found that gardening had helped many of us through the tough times. Even small window boxes or balconies can have a positive impact on health and well-being by helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Gardening is a great physical activity too, providing an excellent strength and cardiovascular workout. If you have limited mobility you could try a little light hand-weeding or pruning and make sure you’re using the right tools for the job. Try to enjoy the time outside and don’t be tempted to do too much at once, just stick to one job at a time to help reduce the risk of injury. Happy gardening and be sure to send pictures of your sunflowers as they grow to [email protected] or share them on social media, don't forget to tag us in the post (Facebook or Instagram). Amanda can't wait to welcome you all back to Move It Or Lose It soon!
